Sandy River Route
Maine 2 foot Narrow Gauge
This is a freelanced route based on scenes and operations on the 2 foot gauge railroads of Maine USA in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s for Auran’s Trainz Railroad Simulator. This route is small in size but packs plenty of operating opportunities in a back woods rural New England setting. The prototype Sandy River railroad operated in areas around Phillips and the Rangeley Lakes. It was primarily used to haul logs out of the woods to small sawmills. The Sandy River eventually merged with numerous other small 2 foot lines in the region to form the famous Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad. This route emulates these typical types of Maine 2 foot operations with a logging camp, a sawmill area and an industrial center. Passenger stations are also included to allow for tourist and commuter operations.
